Jade Liqueurs Nouvelle Orleans Superieure Absinthe 750ml Bottle

An incredible absinthe from Jade Liqueurs. Ted Breaux’s love letter to his hometown in the form of the green fairy, Nouvelle Orléans lives up to that sentiment. It’s in every way an exceptional absinthe as it is an ode to the cultural cornerstone that is NOLA. The appearance of Nouvelle Orléans neat is a vibrant forest green, compared to Esprit Edouard’s shimmering peridot. One could compare it to the color of the Bayou. The louche is in Goldilocks zone. Not too thick to where light doesn’t pass through the narrow part of the glass, yet not too thin to where I can see through the glass. Milky green with a blue lean, it’s really one you need to see to believe. The flavor is very complex and unique. There is an enticing spice to the flavor profile. I can’t accurately describe it, but those who know understand what I mean. The holy trinity is in perfect balance. The aniseed/fennel sweetness open into more complex floral notes alongside the characteristic wormwood bitterness throughout the flavor. It also has this briny/sea air quality to the end that I’ll elaborate on in the finish. The mouthfeel is nearly the same as Edouard, exquisite and perfect yet maybe a bit thinner than Ed. Tongue tingling, not exactly tongue numbing. The finish brings this incredibly clean, almost briny quality; the essence of a port city like Jade Nouvelle Orléans’ name sake. This paired with the refreshingly bitter wormwood finish makes for a truly wonderful experience on the tongue that is unlike any other. Overall, Nouvelle Orléans is a fantastic choice for any occasion. It’s easily a 5/5, like Edouard. Don’t skip out on this one!
