Launched in 2019, the Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series is a collection of masterfully crafted special-release bourbons uniquely finished using a range of techniques from singular wood staves and innovative barrel maturation to curated aging. Released in March 2023, the Maker's Mark 2023 BEP Wood Finishing Series Limited Release Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky is the 7th and final chapter in this highly acclaimed series of outstanding bourbon. Maker's Mark BEP is composed of a mash bill containing 70% corn, 16% wheat, and 14% malted barley and finished to a varying cask strength of +109-proof. Offered in limited quantities for the utmost collectibility, this superb NAS bourbon begins as a wheated distillate made in select batches, afterwhich ten virgin-toasted American oak staves are placed in newly emptied Maker's Mark barrels. These are refilled with the wheated distillate and returned to the rickhouse to mature before bottling. Exceptionally crafted, Maker's Mark BEP opens with a nose of rich wheated oak, brown sugar, caramel, and smoked spices. On the palate are layers of toasted wood, cinnamon, butter, and more brown sugar.
