Ruinart was inspired by the ambitions of his uncle and Benedict monk, Dom Theirry Ruinart, to build one of the finest Champagne houses in the city of Reims. Ruinart drafted the founding charter of Maison Ruinart in 1729, and the first bottle of Ruinart Champagne was released in 1730 - offered as a "wine with bubbles". The brand has grown into its own, becoming a leader in superior cuvees, featuring both Brut non-vintages and vintage wines - the latter containing a minimum of 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot Noir varietals.
