Sichuan-based Shui Jing Fang Co. is cited as the home of China's oldest operating distillery, built over 600 years ago. Master Distiller Wang created this renowned baijiu back in 1408 from a secret recipe, pairing it with crystal clear well water to produce some of the most superior single-grain and multi-grain sorghum spirits from then until now. The ancient distillery was rediscovered and renovated in 1998, with a controlling stake in the brand later purchased by liquor conglomerate Diageo. Diageo began distributing Shui Jin Fang baijiu first to the UK, then internationally starting in 2012. This traditional Chinese rice liquor is derived from select sorghum, rice, wheat, and maize and is typically fermented between 60-90 days in a hand-crafted clay pit. Extremely popular in its native homeland of China, this distinguished baijiu brand has grown into an international best-seller, amassing quite a fanbase throughout the Western hemisphere.
