Situated on a historic plot of land in the Howe of Fife, Daftmill Distillery is one of 9 lowland distilleries operating in the era. Owned by Francis and Ian Cuthbert - whose family tended the land as farmers in the 1980s - Daftmill was established as a legal distillery in 2005, with its first bottling released that December. Producing prime selections out of an old converted barn as part of the Pitlair Estate, the brand is committed to developing peerless whisky iterations in highly curated quantities - depending on the seasons and conditions. Operating not just as a distillery but as a working farm, Daftmill capitalizes on the nature of its unique situation, using barley and other ingredients from its farm and artisanal well water in all its bottlings. Since its inaugural bottling in 2005, Daftmill Distillery has become a reputable lowland whisky producer, with various releases inspiring international acclaim and generating an increasingly high demand due to the brand's very limited production periods.
