El Tequileno

Launched in 1959 by Don Jorge Salles Cuervo, El Tequileno is a line of increasingly popular tequilas created to honor the town of Tequila, Mexico. Produced at the La Guarrena Distillery located in Tequila, this premium brand is crafted from 100% highland Mexican blue agave grown in the Jalisco region of Mexico and uses Cuervo’s original, pioneered pressure autoclaves to refine and cook the pinas (agave hearts). El Tequileno filters its tequila with mineral-imbued natural spring water, later fermenting the blends in 150 year old open-air fermentation tanks. The brand offers 5 in-house varietals; El Tequileno Reposado, Cristalino, Platinum, Reposado Gran Reserva, and Anejo – as well as a recent collaborative iteration with award-winning liquor producer Sassenach Spirits entitled Sassenach Select Double Wood Reposado. This exclusive small-batch aged tequila is matured for a minimum of 2 years in American oak barrels and finished for another 4 months in French oak casks.
