Uncle Nearest is the first spirit brand to be named after an African-American - Nathan “Nearest” Green - who was later acknowledged in 2016 as the first African-American Master Distiller recorded in the US. Launched in 2017 by Green and co-founder Fawn Weaver in Lynchburg TN, Uncles Nearest Premium Whiskey is sold in all 50 US states and 12 countries around the world. Nearest Green is one of the most influential figures in American whiskey manufacturing, having taught the young and now renowned Jack Daniels the art of whiskey distilling and becoming the first master distiller for Jack Daniel’s Distillery after the Civil War. Green also had a vital role in the development of Jack Daniel’s proprietary Lincoln County Process, a sugar maple charcoal filtration method used in the making of a majority of Tennessee Whiskey to this day.
