Mitchell & Son, otherwise known as Mitchell & Son Fine Wines and Spirits Merchants, was established in 1805 and to this day is run by the 6th and 7th generations of the Mitchell family. Offering a wide variety of whiskey and wine under its brand, this iconic industry leader may be most readily recognized for a core range of exclusive and highly prized Irish whiskey referred to as Spot Whiskey. First manufactured by Irish Distillers up until 1975 and later by Midleton Distillery, this silo of single malt whiskey was named after Mitchell's perchance of marking casks with a spot in different colors to denote their age. Using distillates sourced from Jameson's Bow Street Distillery, Mitchell & Son utilized different casks that previously housed both dark and light sherries - including Oloroso and light finos. Originally launched under the name Pat Whisky, this profound brand has continued to offer some of the most sought-after Irish whiskeys on the market and has since re-introduced previously discontinued bottlings of Spot Whiskey including Red Spot, Yellow Spot, and the 2022 release of Gold Spot - a 9 year old Single Malt that commemorates Mitchell & Son's 135th anniversary as a purveyor of fine bonded Irish whiskey.
