Founded in 2008 by Brent Hocking, DeLeon Tequila is produced in the town of Purisima del Rincon in Mexico. Originally introduced to the US markets in 2009 coinciding with the celebration of Cinco de Mayo, DeLeon is certified 100% blue agave tequila - made without the use of any additives typically permitted by Mexican tequila regulations such as oak extract, caramel, or glycerin. The brand was purchased by Sean “P. Diddy” Combs in partnership with international liquor manufacturer Diageo in 2013, and the team has continued to grow the brand in line with their success with another leading tequila maker, Ciroc. DeLeon offers several different varieties of tequila including Diamante (Blanco), Extra Anejo (the first and only 102-proof cask strength tequila), and Leona – the brand's highly-acclaimed reserve iteration made in the DeLeon Fabrica white-glove facility and aged 34 months in French Sauternes ex-wine barrels.
