Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey was founded in 2004 and is the first distillery to legally operate in the state of Colorado since Prohibition. Also lauded as Colorado’s first Rock Mountain single malt whiskey producer, this distinct brand was established by Jess Graber and George Stranahan – the owner of Flying Dog Brewery. After releasing its first bottling in 2006, Stranahan’s was picked up in 2010 by Proximo Spirits who later down-scaled the brand’s availability in order to bring the focus back to the brand’s home state. Stranahan’s features highly-crafted whiskey matured in oak barrels including a series of aged distillations - with one particularly rare offering noted as their oldest to date; 10 year old Stranahan’s Mountain Angel. Launched as the first American single malt of its kind aged for 10 years in virgin charred American white oak casks, a mere 500 bottles of Mountain Angel were made available at the time of its release in 2020.
