Ketel One Vodka was launched by the Nolet Distillery of Schiedam Netherlands in 1983. Crafted from 100% wheat, this vodka is distilled and filtered over loosely set charcoal and is housed in special tanks lined with tiles until bottling. The Nolet Distillery has been in the family since its founding in 1691, with a secondary distillery opened in the US in 1902. The brand was hit hard during World War II, forcing Nolet to close its US manufacturing. Carolus Nolet, the 10th generation owner of Nolet, rejuvenated the brand in 1979 and began producing jenever, or Dutch gin. Ketal 1 Jenever soon became the number 1 selling jenever in the Netherlands. With this success, Nolet looked again to the US and developed vodka solely for the American market – Ketal One. Ketel One Vodka has become an internationally recognized brand and was named the number 2 vodka in the US in 2014, second only to Grey Goose.
