Gordon & MacPhail Whisky began as a humble but carefully curated grocery store in 1895 in the central region of Speyside, Elgin, Scotland. Founders James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail offered various international products and began seeking out complementary crafted single malt whisky produced throughout Scotland. With the help of hired associate John Urquhart, joining the team as someone who selected, purchased, and matured sourced whiskies from local distilleries in the area. Through his connection and apprenticeship with Gordon & MacPhail, John, and subsequent generations of the Urquhart family, expanded from a simple grocery store selection of whiskies to the brand of superior single malts Gordon & MacPhail is prized for. Gordon & MacPhail is classed as an independent bottler and distiller of fine Scotch Whisky and now offers over 350 unique expressions sourced from roughly 70 distinct distilleries, including Ben Alder, Avonside, Glen Avon, Mortlach, Glenlivet, and others. A landmark brand of world-renowned status, Gordon & MacPhail has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a purveyor of imported groceries and goods to an iconic symbol of exceptional Speyside whisky!
