Established by Alberta Distillers (circa 1946), Alberta Premium Whisky is a brand of select Canadian whiskies cited as one of the few 100% rye grain whiskies crafted in North America. Distilled and manufactured at Alberta Distiller's Calgary, Alberta facility - the brand was named Canadian Whisky of the Year by Jim Murray's Whisky Bible in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2021. First introduced as a Canadian-only exclusive, Alberta Premium expanded across the border into the US with the introduction of its Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye Whiskey (with an 'e'). The brand uses 100% Canadian Prairie rye grain and (so far) ages the juice in three different barrels - ex-bourbon, first-fill bourbon, and new white oak charred barrels. While most iterations are NAS bottlings, it is estimated that Alberta Premium matures its whiskies for at least 5 years. Made with pride in Canada, Alberta Premium is an exceptional example of historic Canadian whisky that crosses borders and gains fans with every glass it touches!
